Kassa Overall takes the Babylon stage on the evening of October 9. Melting his drummer, MC, vocalist and producer identities into one, the musician blends jazz with hip-hop and avant-garde production techniques, making genre boundaries almost invisible; in his live sets, beat and improvisation take turns leading. Babylons sound system and standing layout carry both the weight of the rhythm and the detail of the instruments. Not knowing where the set is headed from the start is the best part of this concert. One of Octobers most exciting nights for those used to hearing jazz through its electronic and rap side.
