Istanbul-based drummer and composer Danae Palaka takes the stage with her own project at Yeldegirmeni Sanat on the evening of September 26. Combining contemporary jazz's free structure with krautrock's repeating textures, she builds a musical language fed by Anatolian, Balkan and Afrobeat rhythms, offering a listening experience centered on rhythm. Yeldegirmeni Sanat's small, warm hall is one of Kadikoy's best addresses for concerts where the detail of the instruments can be heard. Since capacity is limited, getting your ticket early is a must. A calm but bold choice for late September, for those who enjoy discovering unfamiliar music up close.
