Yigit Karakas
Yiğit Karakaş is one of the standout young DJs and producers on Turkey's electronic music scene; the "PLU" tag associated with his name comes from People Like Us, the collective and label he co-founded. Born in Edirne in 1997, he entered electronic music with amateur productions at a very young age, started DJing at 15, and moved to Istanbul at 17 to pursue his music career, training in professional sound engineering at SAE Institute. Drawing inspiration from philosophical perspectives and deep reflection, Karakaş blends the dark, melodic side of techno with energetic street-style sounds and analog synths; in 2018 he co-founded People Like Us with Batıkan Abız and Batıkan Tanrıkulu, which grew into both a popular event series and an active record label, drawing attention with retro-futuristic tracks like "Supernatural." Having received early support from Mahmut Orhan, he's known for singles including "Sailor," "Giselle" and "Silent Room," and has charted on Beatport in the Melodic House/Techno and Deep House genres.
