Tonino Baliardo is a French flamenco guitarist and composer, one of the founding members of the world-famous rumba-flamenco group Gipsy Kings. Born in Montpellier in 1960, he's known by the nickname "El Maestro" and is the nephew of legendary flamenco guitarist Manitas de Plata. He co-founded Gipsy Kings with Nicolas Reyes in 1978. Coming from a Catalan Gypsy family that fled Spain's civil war and settled in southern France, his virtuoso guitar technique, rooted in these traditions, helped the band sell over 60 million albums worldwide and win a Grammy. He now tours the world under the name "Gipsy Kings featuring Tonino Baliardo" and performs frequently in Turkey.
