Payam Ghasemi Quintet is a Marseille-based jazz-fusion ensemble led by Iranian bassist and bandleader Payam Ghasemi. Built around his original compositions, the quintet — piano, saxophone, trombone, bass and drums — blends modern jazz, deep grooves and Middle Eastern modal colors through collective improvisation. Ghasemi has played bass for the world-music group Light in Babylon, backed Turkey's popular band Luxus, and performed with Country for Syria, a collective of refugee musicians. The group performs regularly at jazz festivals and cultural venues across Europe and Turkey.
