Nots
Nots are an all-female noise-punk and garage-punk band originally formed in late 2011 in Memphis, Tennessee, describing their distinctively aggressive, fast-paced sound as "weird punk" or "nuevo no wavo," combining jagged electric guitars, frantic drum beats and atonal, spacey synthesizers. The band's core lineup has evolved over time, transitioning from a lo-fi duo to a quartet and eventually a power trio, with Natalie Hoffmann on lead vocals, guitar and synths, Charlotte Watson on drums, and Meredith Lones on bass. Signed to the independent Memphis label Goner Records in North America and Heavenly Recordings in Europe, they have released three full-length studio albums: their critically acclaimed debut "We Are Nots" (2014), "Cosmetic" (2016), which they supported with international touring, and "3" (2019), which marked their transition into a tighter, heavy-hitting trio format.
