Mihai Popoviciu is a Romanian DJ and producer considered one of Eastern Europe's most respected electronic music figures, known for a crisp, dynamic style blending deep house, techno and minimalist tones. Born in Romania in 1981, he got hooked on the scene in the mid-90s by taping electronic music broadcasts from German TV, and since his hometown of Sibiu had no real club culture, he turned to producing tracks on computer software instead of DJing. Though trained as an architect, he devoted himself fully to music, releasing his first record in 2005 on DJ Hell's label International Deejay Gigolo Records, followed by releases on top European labels like Poker Flat, Bedrock and Diynamic. He founded his own label, Cyclic Records, in 2012, and also launched the Hermannstadt Collective project with fellow Romanian producer Jay Bliss.
