Merve Özbey
Merve Özbey is one of the most successful female vocalists in Turkish pop, known for her powerful voice and hit songs. Born in Istanbul in 1988 to a family from Erzurum, she trained in Turkish Classical Music at Istanbul Technical University to build a professional musical foundation, was discovered by Ebru Gündeş while performing at a club, and went on to spend years as a backing vocalist for names including Demet Akalın, Bengü and Özcan Deniz. Her real breakthrough to wider recognition came through "Duman" and "Helal Ettim," songs she performed on arranger Erdem Kınay's project albums that became massive hits in Turkey. She achieved major success with her 2015 debut solo album "Yaş Hikayesi," whose title track topped the charts for an extended period, and released her second studio album "Devran" in 2019. Married to Kenan Koçak, she has two children with him, Elif Özüm and Emir.
