Mavi, real name Umut Mavi Solman, is one of the standout young names in Turkey's trap and hip-hop scene. Born in 2004 in Üsküdar, he started writing lyrics at age 11, and after earning a spot at Buca Işılay Saygın Fine Arts High School, he switched to an open (distance-learning) high school to focus on his music career; he also formed a two-person music group called "Yang" with his musician brother Defa. He signed with MOB Entertainment in 2019, drawing attention with tracks like "Hâlâ" and "Sobe," before signing with Universal Music and continuing to release both independent and label-backed trap and trapsoul projects.
