Mabel Matiz, real name Fatih Karaca, is one of the most original singers, lyricists and composers in Turkish pop, known for his distinctive style, deeply layered lyrics and powerful delivery. Born in 1985 in Erdemli, Mersin, he coined his stage name to conceal his real identity, combining "Mabel," the nickname of a character in Buket Uzuner's novel "Kumral Ada Mavi Tuna," with "Matiz," a Greek-derived slang word meaning "very drunk." A childhood stutter pushed him toward writing and music; he graduated from Istanbul University's Faculty of Dentistry in 2008 and practiced dentistry for about two years before building a large online following by posting songs on Myspace. He entered professional music in 2011 with his self-titled debut album, blending pop with Anatolian melodies, and has since released albums including "Yaşım Çocuk," "Gök Nerede" and "Fatih," delivering hits like "Antidepresan," "Sarmaşık" and "Karakol," while also writing and composing for numerous other names in Turkish music.
