Luxus
Luxus is a Turkish alternative band founded in Istanbul in 2005, describing their own sound as "Oriental Blues." They blend Balkan and Anatolian folk influences with rock and blues into a highly distinctive style; their name means "lights" and also nods to the avant-garde Fluxus art movement. What began as street performances by Marmara University Music Department friends Alper Bakıner and Ozan Akgöz grew into a full band, later joined on bass by Payam Ghasemi. With albums including Acayip Şeyler (2008), Bi' Lareya (2011) and Hunim Başımda (2014), and high-energy shows at Istanbul venues like Araf and Babylon, they've built a loyal following.
