Levent Yüksel is one of the most important Turkish singers, composers and bassists shaping the development of Turkish-language pop since the 1990s, ranked among Turkey's iconic musicians for his distinctive vocal tone, versatile musicianship and particular skill on bass guitar. Born in Antalya in 1964, he started music young on guitar and bağlama, graduated from Istanbul University State Conservatory's Double Bass department, and played bass at nightclubs as a student, backing many famous artists; beginning to work with Sezen Aksu and Onno Tunç became the turning point of his career. Blending pop with arabesque, folk and jazz elements, he delivered timeless songs like "Zalim" and "Tuana" on his debut album "Med Cezir" (1993), regarded as a masterpiece of Turkish pop, and cemented his success with his second album (1995), featuring the Sezen Aksu/Onno Tunç composition "Karaağaç," and "Bi' Daha" (1997).
