İzzet Kızıl is one of Turkey's most important percussionists, known for his mastery of the darbuka and Middle Eastern percussion instruments. Born in Diyarbakır, he learned the fusion of Eastern and Western music traditions from jazz drummer Burhan Tonguç in Istanbul. A permanent member of İlhan Erşahin's İstanbul Sessions, Kızıl brought electronic music together with percussion alongside Emiran in the Akustikhane Across series, and has also collaborated on international projects with artists like Natacha Atlas.
