Gökhan Türkmen
Gökhan Türkmen is one of the most successful and original male vocalists and songwriters in Turkish pop and alternative pop. Born in Istanbul in 1983 to a family from Rize, he developed an interest in music during middle school, learned guitar in 1997, and began performing live at various venues starting in 2000; after graduating from Kocaeli University's Industrial Management department, he took professional vocal lessons. He became a major internet sensation in 2005 when his song "Büyük İnsan," shared online, was streamed by millions, and following that success released his self-titled debut album, also called "Büyük İnsan," in 2008. With a velvety voice blending acoustic textures with modern synth-pop, funk and R&B elements, he has secured a solid place on the Turkish pop scene with popular songs including "Çatı Katı," "Mahşer" and "Sen İstanbul'sun"; he continues independent production under his own label, GTR Müzik, is married to Sinem Aksoy, and has two daughters, Nil Rona and Leyla Ada.
