Ezginin Gunlugu is a Turkish music group formed in Istanbul in 1982, one of the longest-running and most important representatives of protest/original music in Turkey. Emerging with a freedom-driven artistic stance against the oppressive climate of the 1980 military coup, the group became widely known for setting the poems of major poets such as Nazim Hikmet, Orhan Veli and Cahit Sitki Taranci to music. Founded by members including Emin Igus, Hakan Yilmaz, Sebnem Unal, Vedat Verter and Nadir Gokturk, the group is regarded as one of the founding names in Turkey's original music history through its approach combining Turkish literature with music.
